If you’re been in the gym scene for long enough, you’ve no doubt heard of or even considered some of the more popular drugs. Deca Durabolin is definitely one of the biggest names out there, helping lifters make substantial gains for many, many years. However, a few Deca Durabolin side effects have been reported by many people.
DecaDurabolin, also known as Deca Pills and Nandrolone Decanoate, is a synthetic anabolic steroid that is used to treat muscle wasting diseases, anemias, osteoporosis, and even breast cancer.
Despite its medical uses and being a controlled substance in the United States (AKA, not legal without a prescription), it’s popular among gym-goers, specifically among the bodybuilding crowd, and it’s easy to see why. It increases your strength, muscle mass, and endurance. You can often find it being used with other steroids, where it works best.
Of course, like all steroids that rapidly change your body, Deca-Durabolin is not safe. Far from it, in fact. There are some serious side effects that can come with taking nandrolone when you don’t actually need it. Some might be rare, yes, but they can be permanently damaging, and even deadly, so doctors implore that you think hard before using Deca Pills.
I’ll let you know about the Deca Durabolin side effects you need to watch out for if you decide to use, as well as some precautions you should take before using.
Deca Durabolin Side Effects
Deca-Durabolin may have a few benefits for those looking to greatly improve their bodies, but the long-term Deca Durabolin side effects are substantially overpowering.
It’s important to note that you’re not going to develop most of these side effects in just one go. The chances of these side effects increase depending on the length of time and the dosage in which you take DecaDurobolin. The higher both are, the more likely you’re going to develop the more permanent effects.
Here are the side effects that you shouldn’t be surprised by if you take Deca Durabolin:
- Mild side effects. These side effects are almost always temporary. They will disappear once you stop taking Deca Durabolin. These include headaches, nausea, committing, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation. These are relatively normal and usually aren’t a sign of anything bigger.
- Skin issues. These are also temporary, but are important to note for cosmetic reasons. This includes oily skin and acne.
- Psychological side effects. You’ve no doubt heard of “roid rage”. It’s related to the mood swings, irritability, and aggression that comes from constant steroid usage, including Deca-Durabolin. You may also notice depression, anxiety, paranoia, and insomnia.
- Male-pattern baldness. Initially, you may notice that your body is growing more hair than usual. That’s normal, but usually just around the body and facial areas. There’s a good chance DecaDurabolin will cause male-pattern baldness. It can also cause facial hair in women.
- Sexual health issues. One of the things you may notice is a higher libido. However, as time goes on, you may realize you’ll have an issue with performing in bed. Erectile dysfunction is very common with steroids, as is shrunken testicles, and it can also decrease fertility. Women can become infertile from steroid usage.
- Cardiovascular disease. By affecting your cholesterol levels, Deca Durabolin can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. The reduction of blood flow can eventually cause a heart attack or a stroke.
- Liver damage. The higher the dosage and the longer the drug is taken, the more likely you’re going to develop liver damage. An increase of liver enzymes form which indicates stress and damage, and if it gets too much, it can lead to liver failure, which is fatal.
- Decreased testosterone production. The male sex hormone is vital for many men to be, well, men. Lower testosterone can cause many of the problems mentioned before, especially with sexual health. Testosterone production usually comes back after discontinuing Deca Durabolin, but there’s always a possibility of long-term damage, or even the inability to produce natural testosterone ever again.
If You Start Experiencing Side Effects
It shouldn’t be a surprise to say, but some of these side effects are more than alarming. If you become concerned that your steroid usage might be causing cardiovascular problems, liver damage, and anything else that causes you significant worry, you need to stop taking the drug immediately and talk to a healthcare professional. Although Deca-Durabolin might be illegal without a prescription, you’re not going to get in trouble.
Precautions and Other Useful Information
If you do decide to take the plunge and start using Deca-Durabolin, that’s your prerogative, and you are wished all the best. However, it’s important you have all the information you need to minimize your chances of damage to your own body.
Here is what you need to know.
When to Not Use Deca Durabolin
Some people absolutely should not use Deca-Durabolin. Please keep away from the steroid if you have any of the following:
- Liver disease/disorders
- Kidney disease/disorders
- A history of heart disease or heart failure
- A history of prostate, lung, kidney, liver, or breast cancer
- Genital abnormalities, including with the prostate
- An allergy to nandrolone
- A peanut/soy allergy
- Deca Durabolin that is past the expiration date
- Are pregnant or are breastfeeding
Improper Usage
If you’re using nandrolone for fitness purposes, you most likely don’t have the approval or supervision of a medical professional. Doctors warn that nandrolone, when used by people who don’t actually need it, can carry significant risks.
While you’re most likely going to get Deca-Durabolin in pill form, if you somehow get the injectable version, make sure that your needle and the injection site are both clean. Also know that using Deca Durabolin during major athletic events covered by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and other similar agencies are likely to be discovered and will likely have you barred from entering these sporting events.
Deca-Durabolin with Medication
Deca-Durabolin can be highly affected by other medications. If you have any prescription drugs, make sure you research how they work with DecaDurabolin. Don’t take Deca-Durabolin if you regularly take any of the following medication:
- Erythropoietin (used to reduce anemia)
- Medicines and hypoglycemic agents that are used to regulate your blood sugar levels, such as insulin.
- Anticoagulants or any other medicines used to prevent blood clots.
Deca-Durabolin with Food/Drinks
Because nandrolone is used to build up wasting or weakened tissue, those who use it usually have dietary restrictions. Those who do not use it for medical reasons usually don’t need to follow any dietary restrictions other than what they usually use for their fitness regimen.
However, if you have a wasting disease and have decided to take the opportunity to use nandrolone to increase your gains at the gym, you need to follow your doctor’s diet plan or risk severe damage to your body. It should be mentioned that if you have a wasting disease, you need to consult your doctor about whether or not you can do intense exercise.
After Discontinuing Deca Durabolin
Side effects of using Deca-Durabolin won’t disappear right after discontinuing usage, especially if you used it for a substantial amount of time and at a high dosage. You may continue to feel some mild side effects, and even if they stop, some have reported experiencing them again weeks later, which is relatively normal and of not much concern.
I recommend using a legal steroid alternative such as DecaDuro before you commit to using Deca for muscle building purposes. You can read our DecaDuro review here.
